Disney's Newport Bay Hotel Stays and Upgrades

As I write this on a cold November evening under my Disney blanket I am wishfully thinking of being back in Disneyland Paris and snuggling down for the night in my Compass Club Room at the Newport Bay Hotel. Yep that's right Compass Club Room, WE GOT AN UPGRADE!!

Previously staying at Disney's Cheyenne Hotel, The Newport Bay had always appealed to me, I used to look over the lake at it while I walked to the park from Hotel Cheyenne and imagine I was staying in there. To be honest we probably could of stayed there that trip, I just didn't look into how cheap it would actually be with my annual pass, but oh well it happened, not once but on two of my next visits. Yes I loved it that much the first time I decided to stay there again.

Probably one of the best looking Disneyland Paris Hotels, it looks out onto the lake, and dependent on what room you get, you can also see the very tippity top of the castle, now that is magical.
It reminds me of one of my favourite Disney hotels in Walt Disney World, Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resort.

The first stay for me was in April this year, just at the very start of the whole 25th anniversary celebrations. Using my annual pass discount I booked a standard size room with a lake view.
You pay a little bit more for the lake view but I think it is totally worth it. The price with my Dreams Annual Pass came to just over £300 for two adults for two nights, which for a Disney hotel was completely amazing.

What's a Compass Club Room?

This was my first time staying at The Newport Bay and we got upgraded to the Compass Club Rooms AHHH!!! For those of you who are new to Disney Hotels and their club levels, Compass Club is a level you can book which is spread over the course of two floors of the hotel, the hotel corridor interior is different, likewise that of the rooms themselves. Although very much the same in look, how you tell the difference between a normal room and a Compass Club Room is the colour the headboards, Compass Club Rooms will always be in brown wood.
You also get the addition of a coffee machine in your room, and your own private dining area with snacks provided for Compass Club members only. There may be other offers but those are the ones that I know of.

Upgraded? How?

I know there is some of you asking me how did we manage to get an upgrade, I usually think the same thing when I see others getting upgraded to huge room suites.
I will tell you exactly what happened and what we did, or not what we did as I don't think we really did anything.
Considering the week we went in April was after the 25the Anniversary it was still extremely busy and so was our hotel so for a start I'm surprised we got the upgrade.

At check in I made sure I had my Disney ears on and looked like a proper Disney fan, my partner who had never been to Disney before starting asking the cast member checking us in about the different country flag pins he was wearing, and they got onto the topic of being able to speak all those languages, and at about the same time when I was asked if I needed park tickets I replied that I was an annual pass member and then bam, that's when it happened. He just upgraded us, no explanation, It could of been because he liked us and enjoyed the compliment of his languages, it could of been because I was an annual pass member. But to be honest I really don't know, I had a feeling the cast member that dealt with us was the manager so he had authority to do that. But like I said I'm not too sure, so I guess to get an upgrade you just have to be lucky.

Being upgraded meant we got to check in right there and then instead of waiting till 3pm like we would of had to do, we still had the lake view room that I had paid for and boy what a view that was.

Staying again in September

I absolutely adore The Newport Bay Hotel and decided to stay there again at my next visit which was in September this year. I still booked a lake view room and for the same amount of nights as before, but this time we were not upgraded. In fact, this time I visited with a family member and we had asked for two separate double beds when making the booking, only to arrive to be told we had one double bed. Luckily after a little waiting around the issue was resolved, even though the hotel was fully booked.

I love the theming of this Disney Hotel I think it has been done so well, from the beautifully decorated rooms, to the lobby and the hotel shop. The whole place is magical and you really do have that magic feeling of being in a Disney Hotel. Yes it does feel different to normal hotels, if you have ever stepped foot inside a Disney Hotel in Walt Disney World you'll understand exactly what I mean, its just....magic.
